The Department of Veterinary Medicine is part of the Agricultural Faculty of Shakarim University, for the training of veterinary doctors and veterinary sanitary doctors. The department teaches disciplines at 2 faculties of the university – agricultural and engineering-technological. The department is specialized in the specialties 5B120100 - "Veterinary medicine" and 5B120200 - "Veterinary Sanitation". 33 teachers participate in the training, including 2 doctors of science, 2 professors, 17 associate professors, 9 senior teachers and 3 teachers. For students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of specialties 5B070100-"Biotechnology", 5B072700 – "Food technology", 5B072800 – "Technology of processing industries", 5B073200 – "Standardization, metrology and certification" classes are held in "Microbiology"; "Veterinary Microbiology and Virology". In accordance with the requirements of the State Standards for the listed disciplines, educational and methodological documentation has been developed, including the UMKD for all disciplines of the department. All teachers have a basic higher education (veterinary doctor).
